Catherine's Story, Chapter Two

This is a novella-in-progress about a young woman living by herself in an isolated mountainous region of Montana. She has been running from a trauma in her past and has found a measure of peace in her isolation. When she stumbles across a man with a bullet hole in his shoulder, her decision to help him bring the past rushing back and she is forced (for better or worse) to face the past she's been hiding from.

There are romantic aspects to this story but it is not primarily a romance story, more straight fiction than anything. I generally prefer to write fantasy, so bear with me!

This chapter is a little long, but I appreciate anyone willing to read over it and comment!

Notes on Chapter Two: I'm sure there are gun and medical-related inaccuracies, please point out the most painful ones so I can correct them.

Chapter Two
After several minutes of interal debate she followed him. )

Chapter One
He was bleeding all over the snow when she came across him.

Novella, Catherine's Story

Yes, I know the title is lame, but I've never been good at that sort of thing! This fiction novella is not complete, but I have several chapters finished.

Summary:

This novella is about a young woman named Catherine who lives alone in a forgotten corner of Montana. The horror of what happened to her before her arrival to Montana, and the reactions of her family and friends, has driven her to live in a remote cabin for nearly three years with minimal human contact.

She has found a measure of peace in the quiet woods, but all that ends abruptly when she finds an injured man not far from her cabin. She doesn’t know who he is or what has driven him to such an isolated place, but her decision to save him will raise the demons from her past and give her the chance to either exorcise them–or be consumed by them.

Sound interesting?

I've created this LiveJournal mainly to have a place to post my writing and (hopefully) be read and recieve feedback. I write mainly fantasy, but I have been known to dabble in more general fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. My goal is to post at least one item per week (general blog post, a chapter, story idea, etc.). Stay tuned! This is going to be interesting...
